Bar Stache will add more to the downtown bar scene in Fort Lauderdale. There are certainly plenty of places to get a cocktail, but some of the bars just don’t fit with what locals want. Dive bars are great and there are plenty in the area, along with plenty of beach bars, however, the one type of bar not found in the city is a speakeasy.
The city is full of craft beer bars with great mixologists, but the cocktails they create are not at the forefront of the bar. Places, such as Tap 42 and Steak 954 provide excellent places for a high-end cocktail, but these bars are more about the craft beers than the cocktails.
Bar Stache hopes to change the scene and provide a place with plenty of great cocktails. It will open on September 27th and offers an atmosphere much like the speakeasies of the prohibition times. They will kick it all off with a charity event for Glam-A-Thon.
The grand opening won’t include food, but they will have a mixology program ready to introduce many whiskey-based manhattans and other classic cocktails. Eventually, the bar will serve food, including a selection of tapas. Cocktails will range from $8 to $16 and they will be well worth the price.
Of course, not everybody is looking for a cocktail. The bar will also offer other mixed drinks and beer at lower prices, but these will not be at the forefront of Bar Stache.
The interior will provide a vintage feel with high back chairs, exposed brick and tufted sofas. Mykel Stevens, the owner, has created the bar around a fictional character named Williams Stache Jr. This is a character he created as a Wall Street Guy seeking an opportunity to provide a high-end drinking establishment during prohibition.
Throughout the week, shows will be featured ranging from cabaret to indy and even jazz nights. The hope is that one show will start at 8pm each day of the week. The bar will be found at 109 SW 3rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
