Dog in the ParkThe beaches and parks found throughout Fort Lauderdale, don’t all provide an area for dogs. However, some do and it’s important to know what you need before you head to the park with your dog. Here’s a quick guide to the different parks and beaches you can enjoy with your best friend.

Canine Beach

Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can bring your dog out to Canine Beach found off Sunrise Boulevard. Winter hours are from 3pm to 7pm and summer hours are from 5pm to 9pm. You will need a permit, which costs $30 per dog for residents each year and $45 for not residents. Weekend passes are $7 per dog.

Riverwalk Liner Park

Another great place for you and your dog is Riverwalk Linear Park. This park is found the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. It’s open daily and there’s no fee for you or your dog.

Bark Park at Snyder Park

Enjoy two acres of fenced in park with fun agility courses for your dog every day of the year except Christmas and New Year’s Day. The park is open from 7am to 7pm except on Thursdays when it opens at 11am. There’s no charge during the week, but on Saturdays and Sundays, admission is $1 per car for an hour or $5 for the entire day.

Along with playing in the fenced area, you can allow your dog to swim at Snyder Park any day of the week except on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month.

Dog Walking on A1A

From 6am to 9am every day of the year, you can walk your dog on the west side of A1A from Sunrise Boulevard and to the intersection found furthest south. This is included in the purchase of a permit for Canine Beach and you can walk your dog to the north from this intersection 24 hours a day without a permit.
