Many new things are happening around Fort Lauderdale. It’s important to stay up-to-date on anything new that might affect you as a resident of the city. Here are a few of the most important things going on throughout the area.
Sunday Alcohol Coming Soon!
The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will soon sell alcohol on Sundays. The old “blue laws”, which ban the selling of alcohol on Sunday mornings will soon be gone. Travelers interested in sliding up to the bar and getting a beer or cocktail on a Sunday will be able to very soon. Sales will start at 8am on Sundays under the new agreement.
A New Restaurant Opened with Lines out the Door
In the strip mall at North Federal Highway near the Culture Room, a restaurant pairing dinners with beer has opened. This new restaurant is booked five nights a week and serves brunch on Sundays. Hot & Soul is the name and it’s certainly hot with the local Miami crowd.
The 50-seat restaurant serves dishes ranging from spicy to meaty and everything in between. They are open from 4pm to 11pm Tuesday through Saturday and from 11am to 3:30pm on Sundays. If you haven’t stopped in yet, you will want to add Hot & Soul to your list of restaurants to try.
Lunch Alternative for Broward Schools
Instead of standing in a long line and waiting for a meal, most students find less-than-pleasing, Broward students can choose a healthy option from the vending machine. Star Food Healthy Express provides many different options and isn’t a traditional vending machine.
Students enter a code number into the machine, which works for those eligible for discounted and free meals and not just those with cash. If the student is able to get a free meal from the cafeteria line, they can get something out the vending machine, instead. This provides an alternative with plenty of healthy options, such as vegetables, fruits, grains and milk.
