Fort Lauderdale provides a massive park right in the middle of the city. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a 180-acre park with plenty of space for picnicking, swimming, camping, canoeing and more. It’s found just a short walk from many of the best condominium buildings, beaches and shops. This park is not only convenient, but provides the residents of Fort Lauderdale an escape from the busy lifestyle most encounter daily.

Bring the family for a great picnic or come out as a group for overnight camping. You can enjoy the location right between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Rent a canoe and spend time in the freshwater lagoon or spend time hiking the trails as you discover great local wildlife and plants.
With Fort Lauderdale Beach adjacent to the park, you can enjoy some of the most popular beach spots in the entire state of Florida. The beach opens at 9am every day and stays open until 5pm. Lifeguards will be on duty as you swim, soak up some sun and enjoy everything the beach offers.
Rangers will guide you through the park any Friday of the year at 10:30am. These tours are provided and tailored for different ages. These tours change locations throughout the park and provide you with plenty of great locations, to see, such as the Mid Trail, the Mangroves and Coastal Dune Lake.
Along with the tours and the beaches, you can come out and enjoy the nature trails on your own. They may not be the longest trails at a park in Florida, but they do provide plenty of great natural areas to enjoy. The self-guided auto tour provides and even better experience for those looking to learn about the park.
